Here it comes!! Step by step the arcane laws concerning marijuana are finally coming to an end in the US. Granted that an official announcement from a sitting Attorney General Eric Holder must be taken with a certain degree of skepticism (considering past promises from politicians). However, this is a huge step forward for the legalization movement. Let’s hope Obama sticks to his campaign promises and ends the federal raids which disregard the will of the voters as well as state law.

Haha. The sugar-dealing-diabetes-causing-drug-dealers at Kellogs are feeling the heat from firing Michael Phelps. It appears now that they are getting a little uncomfortable with how their product is being viewed. Here’s the thing with these megacorporations, they don’t care about Michael Phelps. They want Michael Phelps to go away, they don’t give a fuck if someone is smoking weed or is a bad example for children, all they care about is their money. When they thought it was in their best interest financially they fired Phelps, now they see that it’s not. So their position now will most likely be one of silence (notice that they refused to make a comment to the Lou Dobbs), and hope the whole thing blows over. Just remember, next time you get the munchies DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM KELLOGS! :)

Poll after poll shows that there is certainly a large group of americans who want pot to be legal. In this case CNN asked its audience a simple question “Do you think marijuana should be legalized” a whopping 95 percent responded yes. Hilarious. If you’d like to cast your vote aol.com is currently running a marijuana legalization poll, ha ha, I think they’ll get the results which are common on the internet, a vast majority supporting legalization. This is painful to watch since Glen Beck obviously can’t speak to the issue without also falling back on all the common stereotypes inherit in the media. Rob Kampia does a good job of keeping his cool and getting some solid information out there. Glen Beck is a libertarian so the biggest issue which could’ve been tackled is one of state’s rights. Libertarians are generally die hard supporters and against federal oversight into state issues. Which is exactly what is happening in California (as well as other states which have already legalized medical marijuana). The Federal government is overriding the will of the voters by use of the DEA. I think Glen thought he was going to have a fun softball interview but instead got hit upside the head with the the irrationality of US drug laws concerning marijuana. He does admit however to being a past marijuana smoker himself, and believes that marijuana should be made legal for all medical patients.

Ammiano wants to legalize marijuana and tax it to increase state revenues. You know the last time that prohibition ended?? Well, it was at the end of the great depression, and at the time many heralded the benefits of taxing alcohol (as well as of course eliminating the associated crime). If there is any chance for legalization of marijuana it is now. If the legalization movement is silent now it is losing possibly the greatest oppurtunity that’s come there way in the last 80 years.

Shiva is the oldest known godhead figure in the world. Devotees of Shiva sometimes meditate by drinking a milk and cannabis mixture prepared by priests (Bhang). Sadhus and other devotees endlessly walk around India searching for the spiritual oneness with Shiva. These Sadhus also smoke ‘Charas’ and ‘ganja’ from chillums.

It is widely accepted amongst Hindus that Shiva takes Bhang. What’s disputed is the consumption of it by ordinary mortals. Most Hindus do not know their ancestors used to take cannabis whenever they saw fit. Consumption of Bhang wasn’t always reserved for the Gods and holy days. In fact, not so long ago it was considered an insult to refuse Bhang. I believe this change occurred no earlier than 1900, after the Indian Hemp Commission’s report was released in the late 1800s.

Bhang is also considered a sister of the Mother Ganges (a holy river and a Goddess in India). There are many songs which start off: “Gang Bhang Dono Bhen Hai, Rehti Shivji Ki Sang. Charan Karne KI Gang Hai, Bhajan Karne Ki Bhang.” Roughly translated this means the Ganges and Bhang (cannabis) are sisters and both live in Shiva’s head. The water from the Ganges is poured over a Shivalingam (a form of Shiva in the guise of a phallus shaped black stone) at a Temple and Bhang is consumed by the devotee so they can mediate, be better able to sing hymns, achieve a blissful state and be like Shiva.
