More and more older people are turning to marijuana for medicinal purposes and urging legislators to legalize pot use for patients. In North Carolina, a bill to do just that is working its way through the General Assembly. (Feb. 22)

Scientific studies have still not proven that smoking marijuana causes cancer. There are still no confirmed deaths due to marijuana use in its 5000 years of usage. Nonetheless smoking burnt plant matter isn’t exactly good for your lungs. For this reason many people concerned about their health will use a marijuana vaporizer. What happens is that the element in the vaporizer will heat the THC to the point that it vaporizes. Since THC burns at a lower temperature than the plant matter you are able to inhale only the vapor and avoid any carcinogens present in the plant matter. These are also quite common with medical marijuana users who don’t smoke, or may aggrivate a condition by smoking.
Michigan Medical Marijuana
In November of 2008, a voter approved marijuana act was passed in Michigan, making it one of 13 other states to legalize marijuana for medical use. To qualify for a medical marijuana card, a patient must have a doctors recommendation to treat specific medical conditions such as cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, Crohns disease, and several other chronic ailments. The act was written to protect marijuana patients and caregivers from prosecution, yet the issue raises many questions. For example, how does a patient obtain their medicine since it is still illegal to buy and sell marijuana? To answer this question, I decided to go to a local compassion club meeting, a place for marijuana patients and caregivers to network. Follow me as I attempt to uncover the truth about medical marijuana in Michigan.

The pain associated with Lyme disease has subsided and Dillon is able to lead the life a 15-year-old boy should be leading.

Barack Obama has since switched his position on marijuana after getting elected. It should be noted that during the campaign Obama’s website Change.Gov ran an online question system which worked similarly to Digg.Com where anyone could pose a question and visitors to the site would then vote up the posts which they found the most pertinent. Overwhelmingly the legalization of marijuana and ending the drug war were both in the top ten (with legalizing marijuana being the top question submitted). Obama previously stated that he favored decriminalizing marijuana but now wants to play politics. In the video above you can notice where he sayds “we don’t want people setting up mom and pop shops because that will make it difficult to regulate” well, here’s the newsflash, there are already loads of mom and pop shops selling marijuana. it’s called California. So now, the only way to “regulate” it would be to legalize it and put in the necessary provisions which would assure the supply is safe (we currently have these for alcohol and tobacco) Obama now must decide if he will continue to use the DEA and the arm of the federal government to persecute those who are openly abiding by state laws.
