Stoner Movies on Netflix Now
So, as I’ve stated multiple times before. A stoner film can fit into many different categories. For this review I’m going to include some of the best film to watch on Netflix stoned. Partly because there’s people smoking weed in them, and also simply because they’re mind fucks which are fun to experience with a bong in one hand . One thing I think is important when picking out a good stoner film, is something that can actually keep my attention. I’m not a big fan of really terribly predictable stoner flicks, I would rather get my mind fucked a bit while getting into a whole new world! (cue The Little Mermaid singing)
So, lets get right to it.
Half Baked
Half Baked is a stoner classic. You really can’t go wrong, and this title is ready to stream right from Netflix instant. It’s dumb, and stupid, and I would highly advise watching this with a friend since the jokes only get better when someone else can also share with you the stupidity of what it is that you’re both watching.
Wet Hot American Summer
Wet Hot American Summer is a comedy set in 1981 where a bunch of camp counselors compete to finish up before the end of the season. It’s a great throwback, and is silly, light, and fun. It checks all the boxes, and will definitely hold your attention with a combination of idotic jokes, hot women, and drug induced banter.
Up in Smoke
Up In Smoke represents the genesis of stoner films, and somehow Netflix decided they needed to have this title on instant to meet the demand of all the stoners dying to watch it. You may be one of those people that doesn’t’ like to watch old films, but get over it, take a monster dab and start streaming this classic film. You won’t regret it.
Being John Malkovich
Being John Malkovich is all about getting inside someone else’s skin. While it doesn’t highlight weed smoking as a main part of the plot. It’s strangeness and mindfuckery will keep you glued to the set. John Cusack and John Malkovich are both completely perfect in their roles, and this film really gets at something about what it is to be a human, and be like a robot in a body. Which is basically what everyone thinks about when they’re stoned.
This is Spinal Tap
This is Spinal Tap is another older film which just keeps on giving. This is one of the most quotable films of all time (These go up to 11) and will have you rolling on the ground with laughter. Again, weed doesn’t play a central role, but sillyness and absurd humor does which appeals to the stoned mindset, so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed after watching this classic.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Again, this is a film all about perception and what it means to be a human. And these are great themes to explore while puffing on that vape pen. Jim Carrey gives an extroidinary performance, and you’ll fall in love with Kirsten Dunst. This is a film that sticks with you, and is only enhanced by smoking a bit of herb before falling into this world that is created for you. Truly a brilliant film.
Masterminds
Masterminds is about a bunch of dumb as hell criminals who pull off a huge bank heist. Again, marijuana doesn’t play a central role in the plot, however the humor certainly does. It’s got that sort of physical humor as well as moments of complete stupidity that will have you coughing out that bong water through the bowl
